Brick Pavers from Misericordia Hospital
Brick Pavers from Misericordia Hospital
Versatile and Pennsylvania made. A good weight and feel, ecru, hearty, useful. These blocks hearken back to a time when things were built to last, at the turn of the 20th Century.
The Clearfield Clay Workings blocks were used in the construction of the historic Misercordia Hospital, which was the main city hospital serving Southwest and West Philly through the early 20th century. Run by the Catholic Sisters of Mercy, the hospital opened its doors in June,1918 and was supported by generations of Philadelphia’s Irish parishes. First built to care for the wounded of the First World War and later the Great Influenza Epidemic of 1918, the hospital eventually became the central maternity ward for all the surrounding neighborhoods. A clay brick is a great example of how something seemingly inanimate can possess such a deep connection to our history.
Perfect for all manner of renovation projects, the Clearfield Clay Workings Block is great for use in parking areas, garden walls, a vintage garage, or patio, really wherever you want, something that not only looks great but also connects to history. When you want to complete a project with a little bit of flair, stand out from the ordinary and give a nod to the past. Sourced by Beaty American. Consider the Clearfield Clay Workings Block for your next project.
